By air

Toronto's main airport, Toronto Pearson International Airport (airport code: YYZ) is approximately a 20-25 minute drive east of downtown Toronto. (See important information for non-Canadian travellers under "Customs and Immigration" below.)

There are a number of options for getting downtown from the airport. Note: costs are given in Canadian dollars.

  • The Airport Express shuttle service by Pacific Western (PW) picks up outside the Arrivals Level of all terminals roughly every 20-30 minutes. Destinations include the downtown bus terminal and several major downtown hotels, with connecting service to other downtown locations available for an additional fee.

    Travel time: 30-40 minutes
    Cost: $16.50 plus gratuity

  • GO Transit, part of the public transportation system, offers approximately 1 departure every hour from the airport to York Mills subway station. Passengers carrying luggage should be aware that not all GO Buses have underfloor luggage compartments. Luggage will be accommodated whenever possible.

    Travel time: approximately 35 minutes
    Cost: $4.05

    From the York Mills subway station tranfer to the subway (Toronto Transit Commission-TTC) southbound to downtown core.

    Travel time: approximately 20 minutes
    Cost: $2.75

  • The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) offers public transportation via #192 Airport Rocket bus, which travels from Pearson Airport to Kipling Subway station (approximately 20 minutes). From Kipling transfer to subway eastbound toYonge station; transfer at Yonge to soutbound subway to downtown hotels.

    Travel time: approximately 35-45 minutes
    Cost: $2.75

  • Taxis and limousines offer flat rate transfers to downtown, based on location.

    Travel time: 25-40 minutes
    Cost: $46-49 + gratuity for a taxi, $51-54 + gratuity for a limousine

Customs and Immigration for International and US Flights

Passengers arriving on flights originating outside of Canada must clear Canadian Inspection Services. On the aircraft, the flight crew will distribute the Travellers' Customs Declaration Card. Complete it before passing through customs. After leaving the plane, follow the crowd into the Customs Hall. American citizens will need a passport or a birth certificate plus photo ID. Citizens of other countries require passports.

By train

Toronto's central train station, Union Station, is located right in downtown Toronto, with easy access to subway transfers wit the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) and taxis for contination to hotels.
